Sunan Ibn Majah, 2728

It was narrated from Muhammad bin Munkadir that he heard Jabir bin ‘Abdullah say:“I fell sick and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to visit me, he and Abu Bakr with him, and they came walking. I had lost consciousness, so the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed ablution and poured some of the water of his ablution over me. I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what should I do? How should I decide about my wealth?’ Until the Verse of inheritance was revealed at the end of An-Nisa’: “If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question has left neither ascendants or descendents.” [4:12] And: “They ask you for a legal verdict. Say: ‘Allah directs (thus) about those who leave neither descendants nor ascendants as heirs.’” [4:]

Rapporté par Muhammad bin Munkadir, d’après ce qu’il a entendu de Jabir bin ‘Abdullah : “Je suis tombé malade et le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) est venu me rendre visite, avec Abu Bakr. Ils sont venus à pied. J’avais perdu connaissance, alors le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) a fait ses ablutions et a versé un peu de l’eau de ses ablutions sur moi. J’ai dit : ‘Ô Messager d’Allah, que dois-je faire ? Comment dois-je décider pour mes biens ?’ Jusqu’à ce que le verset sur l’héritage soit révélé à la fin de la sourate An-Nisa’ : ‘S’il n’y a ni ascendants ni descendants…’ [4:12] Et : ‘Ils te demandent un avis légal. Dis : Allah vous donne un avis au sujet de ceux qui n’ont ni descendants ni ascendants comme héritiers.’”
