Sunan Ibn Majah, 2708

It was narrated from 'Amir bin Sa'd that his father said:“I became sick during the year of the Conquest, and was at death's door. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to visit me and I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I have a great deal of wealth and no one will inherit from me apart from my daughter. Can I give two thirds of my wealth in charity?' He said: 'No.' I said: 'Then half?' He said: 'No.' I said: 'One third?' He said: One third and one third is a lot. If you leave your heirs rich that is better than leaving them destitute and begging from people.”

Rapporté par 'Amir bin Sa'd, d’après son père : “Je suis tombé malade l’année de la Conquête, et j’étais proche de la mort. Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) est venu me rendre visite et j’ai dit : ‘Ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ), j’ai beaucoup de biens et personne n’héritera de moi sauf ma fille. Puis-je donner deux tiers de mes biens en aumône ?’ Il a dit : ‘Non.’ J’ai dit : ‘Alors la moitié ?’ Il a dit : ‘Non.’ J’ai dit : ‘Un tiers ?’ Il a dit : ‘Un tiers, et un tiers c’est beaucoup. Si tu laisses tes héritiers riches, c’est mieux que de les laisser pauvres à mendier auprès des gens.’”
