Sunan Ibn Majah, 1805

It was narrated from Ibn Shihab, from Salim bin Abdullah, from his father, from the Messenger of Allah:Salim said: “My father read to me a letter that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had written about Sadaqat before Allah caused him to pass away. I read in it: 'For forty sheep, one sheep, up to one hundred and twenty. If there is more than that - even one - then two sheep, up to two hundred, If there is one more than that - even one = then three sheep, up to three hundred. If there are many sheep, then for each hundred, one sheep.' And I read in it: 'Separate flocks should not be combined, and a combined flock should not be separated.' And I read in it: 'And a male goat should not be taken for Sadaqah, nor a decrepit nor defective animal.' ”

Rapporté par Salim, d’après son père, du Messager d’Allah : Salim a dit : « Mon père m’a lu une lettre que le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) avait écrite à propos de la Sadaqah avant qu’Allah ne le fasse mourir. J’y ai lu : “Pour quarante moutons, un mouton, jusqu’à cent vingt. S’il y en a plus, même d’un seul, alors deux moutons, jusqu’à deux cents. S’il y en a encore un de plus, alors trois moutons, jusqu’à trois cents. S’il y en a beaucoup, alors pour chaque centaine, un mouton.” J’y ai aussi lu : “On ne doit pas regrouper des troupeaux séparés, ni séparer un troupeau groupé.” Et j’y ai lu : “On ne doit pas prendre pour la Sadaqah ni un bouc, ni un animal vieux ou défectueux.” »
