Sunan Ibn Majah, 1559

It was narrated that Adra’ As-Sulami said:“I came one night to guard the Prophet (ﷺ), and there was a man reciting loudly. The Prophet (ﷺ) came out and I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, this man is showing off.’ Then he died in Al-Madinah, and they finished preparing him, then they carried his dead body. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Be gentle with him, may Allah be gentle with him, for he loved Allah and His Messenger.’ Then his grave was dug and he (the Prophet (ﷺ)) said: ‘Make it spacious for him, and may Allah make it spacious for him.’ Some of his Companions said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you are grieving for him.’ He said: ‘Yes indeed, for he loved Allah and His Messenger.’”

Rapporté par Adra’ As-Sulami : Une nuit, je suis venu pour garder le Prophète (ﷺ), et il y avait un homme qui récitait à haute voix. Le Prophète (ﷺ) est sorti et j’ai dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, cet homme cherche à se faire remarquer. » Plus tard, il est mort à Médine, ils ont fini de le préparer puis ils ont porté son corps. Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Soyez doux avec lui, qu’Allah soit doux avec lui, car il aimait Allah et Son Messager. » Ensuite, sa tombe a été creusée et il (le Prophète (ﷺ)) a dit : « Rendez-lui la tombe spacieuse, et qu’Allah la lui rende spacieuse. » Certains de ses compagnons ont dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, tu es attristé par sa mort ? » Il a répondu : « Oui, car il aimait Allah et Son Messager. »
