Sahih al-Bukhari, 7523

Narrated 'Ubaidullah bin `Abdullah:`Abdullah bin `Abbas said, "O the group of Muslims! How can you ask the people of the Scriptures about anything while your Book which Allah has revealed to your Prophet contains the most recent news from Allah and is pure and not distorted? Allah has told you that the people of the Scriptures have changed some of Allah's Books and distorted it and wrote something with their own hands and said, 'This is from Allah, so as to have a minor gain for it. Won't the knowledge that has come to you stop you from asking them? No, by Allah, we have never seen a man from them asking you about that (the Book Al-Qur'an ) which has been revealed to you

Rapporté par 'Ubaidullah bin `Abdullah : `Abdullah bin `Abbas a dit : « Ô groupe de musulmans ! Comment pouvez-vous demander aux gens des Écritures quoi que ce soit alors que votre Livre, qu’Allah a révélé à votre Prophète, contient les nouvelles les plus récentes d’Allah et est pur et non altéré ? Allah vous a dit que les gens des Écritures ont changé certains des Livres d’Allah, les ont déformés et ont écrit quelque chose de leur propre main en disant : ‘Ceci vient d’Allah’, afin d’en tirer un petit profit. Le savoir qui vous est parvenu ne vous suffit-il pas pour ne pas leur demander ? Non, par Allah, nous n’avons jamais vu l’un d’eux vous demander ce qui vous a été révélé (le Livre, le Coran). »
