Sahih al-Bukhari, 7184

Narrated `Abdullah:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If somebody on the demand of a judge takes an oath to grab (a Muslim's) property and he is liar in it, he will meet Allah Who will be angry with him". So Allah revealed,:-- 'Verily! those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant and their oaths..' (3.77) 'Al- Ashath came while `Abdullah was narrating (this) to the people. Al-Ashath said, "This verse was revealed regarding me and another man with whom I had a quarrel about a well. The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to me), "Do you have any evidence?' I replied, 'No.' He said, 'Let your opponent take an oath.' I said: I am sure he would take a (false) oath." Thereupon it was revealed: 'Verily! those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant....' (3.77) (See Hadith No. 72, Vol)

Rapporté par `Abdullah : Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Si quelqu’un, à la demande d’un juge, jure pour s’approprier le bien d’un musulman alors qu’il ment, il rencontrera Allah en colère contre lui. » Alors Allah a révélé : « Ceux qui échangent l’alliance d’Allah et leurs serments contre un maigre profit… » (3.77) Al-Ashath est arrivé pendant que `Abdullah racontait cela aux gens. Al-Ashath a dit : « Ce verset a été révélé à propos de moi et d’un autre homme avec qui j’avais un différend au sujet d’un puits. Le Prophète (ﷺ) m’a dit : “As-tu une preuve ?” J’ai répondu : “Non.” Il a dit : “Que ton adversaire jure.” J’ai dit : Je suis sûr qu’il va jurer faussement. » C’est alors que ce verset a été révélé : « Ceux qui échangent l’alliance d’Allah et leurs serments contre un maigre profit… »
