Sahih al-Bukhari, 6481

Narrated Abu Sa`id:The Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned a man from the previous generation or from the people preceding your age whom Allah had given both wealth and children. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When the time of his death approached, he asked his children, 'What type of father have I been to you?' They replied: You have been a good father. He said, 'But he (i.e. your father) has not stored any good deeds with Allah (for the Hereafter): if he should face Allah, Allah will punish him. So listen, (O my children), when I die, burn my body till I become mere coal and then grind it into powder, and when there is a stormy wind, throw me (my ashes) in it.' So he took a firm promise from his children (to follow his instructions). And by Allah they (his sons) did accordingly(fulfilled their promise.) Then Allah said, "Be"' and behold! That man was standing there! Allah then said. "O my slave! What made you do what you did?" That man said, "Fear of You." So Allah forgave him

Rapporté par Abu Sa`id : Le Prophète (ﷺ) a parlé d’un homme d’une génération précédente ou d’un peuple avant le vôtre, à qui Allah avait donné à la fois des richesses et des enfants. Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Quand sa mort approchait, il a demandé à ses enfants : “Quel genre de père ai-je été pour vous ?” Ils ont répondu : Tu as été un bon père. Il a dit : “Mais moi (votre père), je n’ai rien préparé de bon auprès d’Allah (pour l’Au-delà) : si je me présente devant Allah, Il me punira. Alors écoutez, (mes enfants), quand je mourrai, brûlez mon corps jusqu’à ce qu’il ne reste que des cendres, puis réduisez-les en poudre, et lorsqu’il y aura un vent fort, jetez-moi (mes cendres) dedans.” Il a donc fait promettre fermement à ses enfants de suivre ses instructions. Et, par Allah, ils l’ont fait. Ensuite, Allah a dit : “Sois !” et voilà que cet homme se tenait debout ! Allah a alors dit : “Ô Mon serviteur ! Qu’est-ce qui t’a poussé à faire cela ?” Cet homme a répondu : “La crainte de Toi.” Alors Allah lui a pardonné
