Sahih al-Bukhari, 6140

Narrated `Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr:Abu Bakr invited a group of people and told me, "Look after your guests." Abu Bakr added, I am going to visit the Prophet (ﷺ) and you should finish serving them before I return." `Abdur-Rahman said, So I went at once and served them with what was available at that time in the house and requested them to eat." They said, "Where is the owner of the house (i.e., Abu Bakr)?" `Abdur-Rahman said, "Take your meal." They said, "We will not eat till the owner of the house comes." `Abdur-Rahman said, "Accept your meal from us, for if my father comes and finds you not having taken your meal yet, we will be blamed severely by him, but they refused to take their meals . So I was sure that my father would be angry with me. When he came, I went away (to hide myself) from him. He asked, "What have you done (about the guests)?" They informed him the whole story. Abu Bakr called, "O `Abdur Rahman!" I kept quiet. He then called again. "O `Abdur-Rahman!" I kept quiet and he called again, "O ignorant (boy)! I beseech you by Allah, if you hear my voice, then come out!" I came out and said, "Please ask your guests (and do not be angry with me)." They said, "He has told the truth; he brought the meal to us." He said, "As you have been waiting for me, by Allah, I will not eat of it tonight." They said, "By Allah, we will not eat of it till you eat of it." He said, I have never seen a night like this night in evil. What is wrong with you? Why don't you accept your meals of hospitality from us?" (He said to me), "Bring your meal." I brought it to him, and he put his hand in it, saying, "In the name of Allah. The first (state of fury) was because of Satan." So Abu Bakr ate and so did his guests

Rapporté par `Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr : Abu Bakr a invité un groupe de personnes et m’a dit : « Occupe-toi de tes invités. Je vais rendre visite au Prophète (ﷺ) et tu dois finir de les servir avant mon retour. » `Abdur-Rahman raconte : Je me suis donc empressé de leur servir ce qu’il y avait à la maison et je les ai invités à manger. Ils ont demandé : « Où est le maître de la maison (c’est-à-dire Abu Bakr) ? » J’ai répondu : « Prenez votre repas. » Ils ont dit : « Nous ne mangerons pas tant que le maître de la maison ne sera pas là. » J’ai insisté : « Acceptez le repas de notre part, car si mon père revient et voit que vous n’avez pas encore mangé, il nous en tiendra rigueur. » Mais ils ont refusé. J’étais donc sûr que mon père serait fâché contre moi. Lorsqu’il est rentré, je me suis caché. Il a demandé : « Qu’as-tu fait pour les invités ? » Ils lui ont tout raconté. Abu Bakr a appelé : « Ô `Abdur-Rahman ! » Je suis resté silencieux. Il a appelé de nouveau : « Ô `Abdur-Rahman ! » Je n’ai pas répondu, puis il a répété : « Ô ignorant ! Je t’en supplie par Allah, si tu m’entends, viens ! » Je suis sorti et j’ai dit : « Demande à tes invités, s’il te plaît, et ne sois pas en colère contre moi. » Ils ont dit : « Il dit la vérité ; il nous a apporté le repas. » Abu Bakr a dit : « Puisque vous m’avez attendu, par Allah, je ne mangerai pas de ce repas cette nuit. » Ils ont répondu : « Par Allah, nous non plus, tant que tu n’en mangeras pas. » Abu Bakr a dit : « Je n’ai jamais vu une nuit aussi difficile que celle-ci. Qu’avez-vous ? Pourquoi ne voulez-vous pas accepter notre hospitalité ? » (Il m’a dit) : « Apporte le repas. » Je le lui ai apporté, il a mis la main dedans en disant : « Au nom d’Allah.
