Sahih al-Bukhari, 5292

Narrated Yazid:(the Maula of Munba'ith) The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked regarding the case of a lost sheep. He said, "You should take it, because it is for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf." Then he was asked about a lost camel. He got angry and his face became red and he said (to the questioner), "You have nothing to do with it; it has its feet and its water container with it; it can go on drinking water and eating trees till its owner meets it." And then the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked about a Luqata (money found by somebody). He said, "Remember and recognize its tying material and its container, and make public announcement about it for one year. If somebody comes and identifies it (then give it to him), otherwise add it to your property

Rapporté par Yazid (le Maula de Munba'ith) : Le Prophète (ﷺ) a été interrogé au sujet d'une brebis perdue. Il a dit : « Prends-la, car elle est pour toi, pour ton frère, ou pour le loup. » Ensuite, on lui a demandé au sujet d’un chameau perdu. Il s’est mis en colère, son visage est devenu rouge et il a dit à la personne : « Tu n’as rien à voir avec cela ; il a ses pieds et sa réserve d’eau avec lui ; il peut continuer à boire et à manger des arbres jusqu’à ce que son propriétaire le retrouve. » Puis le Prophète (ﷺ) a été interrogé au sujet d’une Luqata (de l’argent trouvé par quelqu’un). Il a dit : « Souviens-toi et reconnais la ficelle et le contenant, puis annonce-le publiquement pendant un an. Si quelqu’un vient et l’identifie, alors rends-le-lui ; sinon, ajoute-le à tes biens. »
