Sahih al-Bukhari, 5149

Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d As-Sa`idi:While I was (sitting) among the people in the company of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) a woman stood up and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! She has given herself in marriage to you; please give your opinion of her." The Prophet did not give her any reply. She again stood up and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! She has given herself (in marriage) to you; so please give your opinion of her. The Prophet (ﷺ) did not give her any reply. She again stood up for the third time and said, "She has given herself in marriage to you: so give your opinion of her." So a man stood up and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Marry her to me." The Prophet asked him, "Have you got anything?" He said, "No." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Go and search for something, even if it were an iron ring." The man went and searched and then returned saying, "I could not find anything, not even an iron ring." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do you know something of the Qur'an (by heart)?" He replied, "I know (by heart) such Sura and such Sura." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Go! I have married her to you for what you know of the Qur'an (by heart)

Rapporté par Sahl bin Sa`d As-Sa`idi : Alors que j’étais assis parmi les gens en compagnie du Messager d’Allah (ﷺ), une femme s’est levée et a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! Elle s’est offerte à toi en mariage ; donne ton avis sur elle. » Le Prophète ne lui a pas répondu. Elle s’est levée de nouveau et a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! Elle s’est offerte à toi en mariage ; donne ton avis sur elle. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) ne lui a pas répondu. Elle s’est levée une troisième fois et a dit : « Elle s’est offerte à toi en mariage : donne ton avis sur elle. » Alors un homme s’est levé et a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! Maries-la-moi. » Le Prophète lui a demandé : « As-tu quelque chose ? » Il a répondu : « Non. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Va chercher quelque chose, même une bague en fer. » L’homme est parti chercher, puis il est revenu en disant : « Je n’ai rien trouvé, même pas une bague en fer. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a alors dit : « Connais-tu quelque chose du Coran par cœur ? » Il a répondu : « Je connais telle sourate et telle sourate. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Va ! Je te la donne en mariage pour ce que tu connais du Coran par cœur. »
