Sahih al-Bukhari, 5135

Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d:A woman came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said, "I present myself (to you) (for marriage). She stayed for a long while, then a man said, "If you are not in need of her then marry her to me." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Have you got anything m order to pay her Mahr?" He said, "I have nothing with me except my Izar (waist sheet)." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If you give her your Izar, you will have no Izar to wear, (so go) and search for something. He said, "I could not find anything." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Try (to find something), even if it were an iron ring But he was not able to find (even that) The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to him). "Do you memorize something of the Qur'an?" "Yes. ' he said, "such Sura and such Sura," naming those Suras The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "We have married her to you for what you know of the Qur'an (by heart)

Rapporté par Sahl bin Sa`d : Une femme est venue voir le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) et a dit : « Je me propose à toi (pour le mariage). » Elle est restée un long moment, puis un homme a dit : « Si tu n’as pas besoin d’elle, alors marie-la-moi. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « As-tu quelque chose pour lui donner comme dot ? » Il a répondu : « Je n’ai rien d’autre que mon izar (tissu de taille). » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Si tu lui donnes ton izar, tu n’auras plus rien à porter. (Va) et cherche quelque chose. » Il a dit : « Je n’ai rien trouvé. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Cherche, même si c’est une bague en fer. » Mais il n’a rien trouvé, même pas cela. Le Prophète (ﷺ) lui a demandé : « Connais-tu quelque chose du Coran par cœur ? » Il a répondu : « Oui, telle sourate et telle sourate, » en nommant ces sourates. Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Nous t’avons marié à elle pour ce que tu connais du Coran par cœur. »
