Sahih al-Bukhari, 4459

Narrated Al-Aswad:It was mentioned in the presence of `Aisha that the Prophet (ﷺ) had appointed `Ali as successor by will. Thereupon she said, "Who said so? I saw the Prophet, while I was supporting him against my chest. He asked for a tray, and then fell on one side and expired, and I did not feel it. So how (do the people say) he appointed `Ali as his successor?

Rapporté par Al-Aswad : On mentionna devant `Aisha que le Prophète (ﷺ) avait désigné `Ali comme successeur par testament. Elle répondit : « Qui a dit cela ? J’ai vu le Prophète alors que je le soutenais contre ma poitrine. Il a demandé un plateau, puis il est tombé sur le côté et il est décédé, et je ne m’en suis même pas rendu compte. Alors comment (les gens peuvent-ils dire) qu’il a désigné `Ali comme successeur ? »
