Sahih al-Bukhari, 3547

Narrated Rabi`a bin Abi `Abdur-Rahman:I heard Anas bin Malik describing the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "He was of medium height amongst the people, neither tall nor short; he had a rosy color, neither absolutely white nor deep brown; his hair was neither completely curly nor quite lank. Divine Inspiration was revealed to him when he was forty years old. He stayed ten years in Mecca receiving the Divine Inspiration, and stayed in Medina for ten more years. When he expired, he had scarcely twenty white hairs in his head and beard." Rabi`a said, "I saw some of his hairs and it was red. Rapporté par Rabi`a bin Abi `Abdur-Rahman : J’ai entendu Anas bin Malik décrire le Prophète (ﷺ) en disant : « Il avait une taille moyenne parmi les gens, ni grand ni petit ; il avait le teint rosé, ni complètement blanc ni très foncé ; ses cheveux n’étaient ni tout à fait bouclés ni totalement raides. La Révélation lui est venue à quarante ans. Il est resté dix ans à La Mecque à recevoir la Révélation, puis dix ans à Médine. À sa mort, il avait à peine vingt cheveux blancs sur la tête et la barbe. » Rabi`a a dit : « J’ai vu quelques-uns de ses cheveux et ils étaient rouges. Quand j’ai demandé pourquoi, on m’a dit que c’était à cause du parfum. »
