Sahih al-Bukhari, 3383

Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was asked, "Who is the most honorable amongst the people?" He replied, "The most Allah fearing." The people said, "We do not want to ask you about this." He said, "The most honorable person is Joseph, Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Khalil" The people said, 'We do not want to ask you about this." He said," Then you want to ask me about the origins of the Arabs? People are of various origins. The best in the pre-Islamic period are the best in Islam, provided they comprehend (the religious knowledge)

Rapporté par Abu Huraira : On a demandé au Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) : « Qui est la personne la plus honorable parmi les gens ? » Il a répondu : « Celui qui craint le plus Allah. » Les gens ont dit : « Nous ne voulons pas te demander cela. » Il a dit : « La personne la plus honorable est Joseph, Prophète d’Allah, fils d’un Prophète d’Allah, fils d’un Prophète d’Allah, fils du Khalil d’Allah. » Les gens ont dit : « Ce n’est pas cela que nous voulons savoir. » Il a dit : « Alors, vous voulez me demander sur les origines des Arabes ? Les gens ont différentes origines. Les meilleurs avant l’Islam sont les meilleurs dans l’Islam, à condition qu’ils comprennent la religion. »
