Sahih al-Bukhari, 3310

Narrated Abu Mulaika:Ibn `Umar used to kill snakes, but afterwards he forbade their killing and said, "Once the Prophet (ﷺ) pulled down a wall and saw a cast-off skin of a snake in it. He said, 'Look for the snake. 'They found it and the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Kill it." For this reason I used to kill snakes. Later on I met Abu Lubaba who told me the Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Do not kill snakes except the short-tailed or mutilated-tailed snake with two white lines on its back, for it causes abortion and makes one blind. So kill it

Rapporté par Abu Mulaika : Ibn `Umar tuait les serpents, mais ensuite il a interdit de les tuer et a dit : « Un jour, le Prophète (ﷺ) a démoli un mur et a vu une peau de serpent dedans. Il a dit : “Cherchez le serpent.” Ils l’ont trouvé et le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : “Tuez-le.” C’est pour cela que je tuais les serpents. Plus tard, j’ai rencontré Abu Lubaba qui m’a dit que le Prophète (ﷺ) avait dit : ‘Ne tuez que le serpent à la queue courte ou mutilée avec deux lignes blanches sur le dos, car il provoque des fausses couches et rend aveugle. Donc, tuez-le.’ »
