Sahih al-Bukhari, 1254

Narrated Um 'Atiyya:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to us and we were giving a bath to his (dead) daughter and said, "Wash her three, five or more times with water and Sidr and sprinkle camphor on her at the end; and when you finish, notify me." So when we finished, we informed him and he gave us his waist-sheet and told us to shroud her in it. Aiyub said that Hafsa narrated to him a narration similar to that of Muhammad in which it was said that the bath was to be given for an odd number of times, and the numbers 3, 5 or 7 were mentioned. It was also said that they were to start with the right side and with the parts which were washed in ablution, and that Um 'Atiyya also mentioned, "We combed her hair and divided them in three braids

Rapporté par Um 'Atiyya : Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) est venu vers nous alors que nous donnions le bain à sa fille décédée et a dit : « Lavez-la trois, cinq ou plus de fois avec de l’eau et du jujubier, et mettez du camphre à la fin ; et quand vous aurez terminé, prévenez-moi. » Quand nous avons fini, nous l’avons informé et il nous a donné son pagne pour que nous l’enveloppions avec. Aiyub a dit que Hafsa lui a rapporté un récit similaire à celui de Muhammad où il était dit que le bain devait être donné un nombre impair de fois, et les nombres 3, 5 ou 7 étaient mentionnés. Il a aussi été dit qu’il fallait commencer par le côté droit et par les parties lavées lors des ablutions, et Um 'Atiyya a aussi mentionné : « Nous avons peigné ses cheveux et les avons divisés en trois tresses. »
