Sunan Abi Dawud, 3755

Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib: Safinah AbuAbdurRahman said that a man prepared food for Ali ibn AbuTalib who was his guest, and Fatimah said: I wish we had invited the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he had eaten with us. They invited him, and when he came he put his hands on the side-ports of the door, but when he saw the figured curtain which had been put at the end of the house, he went away. So Fatimah said to Ali: Follow him and see what turned him back. I (Ali) followed him and asked: What turned you back, Messenger of Allah? He replied: It is not fitting for me or for any Prophet to enter a house which is decorated

Rapporté par Ali ibn AbuTalib : Safinah AbuAbdurRahman a dit qu’un homme avait préparé un repas pour Ali ibn AbuTalib qui était son invité, et Fatimah a dit : « J’aurais aimé que nous invitions le Messager d’Allah ﷺ pour qu’il mange avec nous. » Ils l’ont donc invité, et quand il est arrivé, il a posé ses mains sur les montants de la porte, mais en voyant le rideau décoré au fond de la maison, il est reparti. Alors Fatimah a dit à Ali : « Suis-le et demande-lui pourquoi il est parti. » Je (Ali) l’ai suivi et j’ai demandé : « Qu’est-ce qui t’a fait repartir, Messager d’Allah ? » Il a répondu : « Il ne convient pas à moi ni à aucun Prophète d’entrer dans une maison décorée. »
