Sunan Abi Dawud, 3610

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet (ﷺ) gave a decision on the basis of an oath and a single witness. Abu Dawud said: Al-Rabi' bin Sulaiman al-Mu'adhdhin told me some additional words in this tradition: Al-Shafi'i told me from 'Abd al-'Aziz. I then mentioned it fo Suhail who said: Rabi'ah told me - and he is reliable in my opinion - that I told him this (tradition) and I do not remember it. 'Abd al-'Aziz said: Suhail suffered from some disease which caused him to lose a little of his intelligence, and he forgot some of his traditions. Thereafter Suhail would narrate traditions from Rabi'ah on the authority of his father

Rapporté par Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه : Le Prophète ﷺ a rendu un jugement sur la base d’un serment et d’un seul témoin. Abu Dawud a dit : Al-Rabi’ ibn Sulaiman al-Mu’adhdhin m’a rapporté quelques mots supplémentaires dans ce récit : Al-Shafi’i m’a rapporté cela de ‘Abd al-‘Aziz. Je l’ai ensuite mentionné à Suhail qui a dit : « Rabi’ah m’a rapporté cela — et il est fiable à mes yeux — que je lui ai transmis ce récit, mais je ne m’en souviens pas. » ‘Abd al-‘Aziz a dit : « Suhail a souffert d’une maladie qui lui a fait perdre un peu de sa mémoire, et il a oublié certains de ses récits. Par la suite, Suhail rapportait des récits de Rabi’ah au nom de son père. »
