Sunan Abi Dawud, 3322

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If anyone takes a vow but does not name it, its atonement is the same as that for an oath, if anyone takes a vow to do an act of disobedience, its atonement is the same as that for an oath, if anyone takes a vow he is unable to fulfill, its atonement is the same as that for an oath, but if anyone takes a vow he is able to fulfill, he must do so. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted by Waki' and others on the authority of 'Abd Allah b. Sa'id b. Abi al-Hind, but they traced it no farther back than Ibn 'Abbas

Rapporté par Abdullah ibn Abbas : Le Prophète ﷺ a dit : « Si quelqu’un fait un vœu sans le préciser, son expiation est la même que pour un serment. Si quelqu’un fait le vœu d’accomplir un acte de désobéissance, son expiation est la même que pour un serment. Si quelqu’un fait un vœu qu’il ne peut pas accomplir, son expiation est la même que pour un serment. Mais si quelqu’un fait un vœu qu’il peut accomplir, il doit le faire. » Abu Dawud a dit : Cette tradition a été transmise par Waki‘ et d’autres, d’après ‘Abd Allah b. Sa‘id b. Abi al-Hind, mais ils ne l’ont pas attribuée au-delà d’Ibn ‘Abbas
