Sunan Abi Dawud, 3111

Narrated Jabir ibn Atik: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to visit Abdullah ibn Thabit who was ill. He found that he was dominated (by the divine decree). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called him loudly, but he did not respond. He uttered the Qur'anic verse "We belong to Allah and to Him do we return" and he said: We have been dominated against you, AburRabi'. Then the women cried and wept, and Ibn Atik began to silence them. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Leave them, when the divine decree is made, no woman should weep. They (the people) asked: What is necessary happening, Messenger of Allah? He replied: Death. His daughter said: I hope you will be a martyr, for you have completed your preparations for jihad. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Allah Most High gave him a reward according to his intentions. What do you consider martyrdom? They said: Being killed in the cause of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: There are seven types of martyrdom in addition to being killed in Allah's cause: one who dies of plague is a martyr; one who is drowned is a martyr; one who dies of pleurisy is a martyr; one who dies of an internal complaint is a martyr; one who is burnt to death is a martyr; who one is killed by a building falling on him is a martyr; and a woman who dies while pregnant is a martyr

Rapporté par Jabir ibn Atik رضي الله عنه : Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ est venu rendre visite à Abdullah ibn Thabit, qui était malade. Il a vu qu’il était dominé (par le décret divin). Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ l’a appelé à haute voix, mais il n’a pas répondu. Il a récité le verset coranique : « Nous appartenons à Allah et c’est vers Lui que nous retournons », puis il a dit : « Nous avons été dominés contre toi, AburRabi’. » Les femmes se sont alors mises à pleurer, et Ibn Atik a essayé de les faire taire. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Laissez-les, car lorsqu’un décret divin est accompli, aucune femme ne doit pleurer. » Ils ont demandé : « Qu’est-ce que l’événement inévitable, Messager d’Allah ? » Il a répondu : « La mort. » Sa fille a dit : « J’espère que tu seras martyr, car tu t’es préparé pour le jihad. » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Allah le Très-Haut lui a accordé une récompense selon ses intentions. Qu’appelez-vous le martyre ? » Ils ont répondu : « Être tué dans la voie d’Allah. » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Il y a sept types de martyre en plus de celui qui meurt dans la voie d’Allah : celui qui meurt de la peste est martyr ; celui qui se noie est martyr ; celui qui meurt de pleurésie est martyr ; celui qui meurt d’une maladie interne est martyr ; celui qui meurt brûlé est martyr ; celui qui meurt sous l’effondrement d’un bâtiment est martyr ; et la femme qui meurt en accouchant est martyre. »
