Sunan Abi Dawud, 2142

Narrated Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri: Mu'awiyah asked: Messenger of Allah, what is the right of the wife of one of us over him? He replied: That you should give her food when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, do not strike her on the face, do not revile her or separate yourself from her except in the house. Rapporté par Mu’awiyah al-Qushayri رضي الله عنه : Mu’awiyah a demandé : « Messager d’Allah, quel est le droit de l’épouse de l’un d’entre nous sur lui ? » Il a répondu : « Que tu lui donnes à manger quand tu manges, que tu l’habilles quand tu t’habilles, que tu ne la frappes pas au visage, que tu ne l’insultes pas et que tu ne t’éloignes d’elle que dans la maison. » Abu Dawud a dit : Par “ne l’insulte pas”, il voulait dire, comme on dit : “Qu’Allah te maudisse.”
