Sunan Abi Dawud, 2075

Abdur Rahman ibn Hurmuz al-A'raj said:Al-Abbas ibn Abdullah ibn al-Abbas married his daughter to Abdur Rahman ibn al-Hakam, and AbdurRahman married his daughter to him. And they made this (exchange) their dower. Mu'awiyah wrote to Marwan commanding him to separate them. He wrote in his letter: This is the shighar which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has forbidden

Abdur Rahman ibn Hurmuz al-A’raj a dit : Al-Abbas ibn Abdullah ibn al-Abbas a marié sa fille à Abdur Rahman ibn al-Hakam, et Abdur Rahman a marié sa fille à Al-Abbas. Ils ont fait de cet échange leur dot. Mu’awiyah a écrit à Marwan pour lui ordonner de les séparer. Il a écrit dans sa lettre : « Ceci est le shighar que le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a interdit. »
