Sunan Abi Dawud, 1298

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr: AbulJawza' said: A man who attended the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) narrated to me (it is thought that he was Abdullah ibn Amr): The Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: Come to me tomorrow; I shall give you something, I shall give you something, I shall reward you something, I shall donate something to you. I thought that he would give me some present. He said (to me when I came to him): When the day declines, stand up and pray four rak'ahs. He then narrated something similar. This version adds: Do not stand until you glorify Allah ten times, and praise Him ten times, and exalt Him ten times, and say, "There is no god but Allah" ten times. Then you should do that in four rak'ahs. If you are the greatest sinner on earth, you will be forgiven (by Allah) on account of this (prayer). I asked: If I cannot pray this the appointed hour, (what should I do)? He replied: Pray that by night or by day (at any time). Abu Dawud said: Habban b. Hilal is the maternal uncle of Hilal al-Ra'i. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by al-Mustamir b. al-Riyyan from Ibn al-Jawza' from 'Abd Allah b. 'Amr without referring to the Prophet (ﷺ), - narrated as a statement of 'Abd Allah b. 'Amr himself (mauquf). This has also been narrated by Rawh b. al-Musayyab, and Ja'far b. Sulaiman from 'Amr b. Malik al-Nakri from Abu al-Jauza' from Ibn 'Abbas as his own statement (and not the statement of the Prophet). But the version of Rawh has the words: "The tradition of the Prophet (ﷺ)

Rapporté par Abdullah ibn Amr رضي الله عنه : AbulJawza’ a dit : Un homme qui a fréquenté le Prophète ﷺ m’a raconté (on pense qu’il s’agit d’Abdullah ibn Amr) : Le Prophète ﷺ m’a dit : « Viens me voir demain ; je te donnerai quelque chose, je t’offrirai quelque chose, je te récompenserai, je te ferai un don. » Je pensais qu’il me donnerait un cadeau. Quand je suis venu vers lui, il m’a dit : « Quand le jour décline, lève-toi et prie quatre rak‘as. » Il a ensuite rapporté quelque chose de similaire. Cette version ajoute : « Ne te lève pas avant d’avoir glorifié Allah dix fois, de L’avoir loué dix fois, de L’avoir exalté dix fois, et d’avoir dit “Il n’y a de dieu qu’Allah” dix fois. » Tu dois faire cela dans quatre rak‘as. Même si tu es le plus grand pécheur sur terre, tu seras pardonné (par Allah) grâce à cette prière. J’ai demandé : « Et si je ne peux pas la faire à l’heure indiquée ? » Il a répondu : « Accomplis-la la nuit ou le jour (à n’importe quel moment). » Abu Dawud a dit : Habban ibn Hilal est l’oncle maternel de Hilal al-Ra’i. Abu Dawud a dit : Ce récit a été rapporté par al-Mustamir ibn al-Riyyan d’après Ibn al-Jawza’ d’après ‘Abd Allah ibn Amr sans le rattacher au Prophète ﷺ, – rapporté comme une parole d’‘Abd Allah ibn Amr lui-même (mauquf). Cela a aussi été rapporté par Rawh ibn al-Musayyab et Ja‘far ibn Sulaiman d’après ‘Amr ibn Malik al-Nakri d’après Abu al-Jauza’ d’après Ibn ‘Abbas comme sa propre parole (et non celle du Prophète). Mais la version de Rawh contient les mots : « Le récit du Prophète ﷺ. »
