Narrated Umm Ma'qil: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed the Farewell Pilgrimage, and we had a camel, AbuMa'qil dedicated it to the cause of Allah. Then we suffered from a disease, and AbuMa'qil died. The Prophet (ﷺ) went out (for hajj). When he finished the hajj, I came to him. He said (to me): Umm Ma'qil, what prevented you from coming out for hajj along with us? She said: We resolved (to do so), but AbuMa'qil died. We had a camel on which we could perform hajj, but AbuMa'qil had bequeathed it to the cause of Allah. He said: Why did you not go out (for hajj) upon it, for hajj is in the cause of Allah? If you miss this hajj along with us, perform umrah during Ramadan, for it is like hajj. She used to say: hajj is hajj, and umrah is umrah. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said it to me: I do not know whether it was peculiar to me

Rapporté par Umm Ma'qil رضي الله عنها : Lorsque le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a accompli le pèlerinage d’adieu, nous avions un chameau, qu’AbuMa'qil avait consacré à la cause d’Allah. Ensuite, nous avons été frappés par une maladie et AbuMa'qil est décédé. Le Prophète ﷺ est parti (pour le hajj). Quand il a terminé le hajj, je suis allée le voir. Il m’a dit : « Umm Ma'qil, qu’est-ce qui t’a empêchée de venir au hajj avec nous ? » Elle a dit : « Nous avions l’intention de le faire, mais AbuMa'qil est mort. Nous avions un chameau pour le hajj, mais AbuMa'qil l’avait légué à la cause d’Allah. » Il a dit : « Pourquoi n’es-tu pas partie (au hajj) avec ce chameau, car le hajj est dans la cause d’Allah ? Si tu as manqué ce hajj avec nous, fais la ‘Umrah pendant Ramadan, car elle est comme le hajj. » Elle avait l’habitude de dire : « Le hajj est le hajj, et la ‘Umrah est la ‘Umrah. » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ me l’a dit : « Je ne sais pas si cela m’était réservé. »
