سنن النسائي 312

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abza from his father that a man came to 'Umar and said:"I have become Junub and I do not have any water." 'Umar said: "Do not pray." But 'Ammar bin Yasir said: "O Commander of the Believers! Don't you remember when you and I were on a campaign and we became Junub and could not find water? You did not pray, but I rolled in the dust and prayed. Then we came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him about that, and he said: 'It would have been sufficient for you (to do this),' then the Prophet (ﷺ) struck his hands on the ground and blew on them, then wiped his face and hands with them'" - (one of the narrators) Salamah was uncertain and did not know whether that was up to the elbows or just hands. And 'Umar said: "We will let you bear the burden of what you took upon yourself

Rapporté par Ibn ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abza, d’après son père : Un homme est venu voir ‘Umar et a dit : "Je suis devenu en état de Janabah et je n’ai pas d’eau." ‘Umar a dit : "Ne prie pas." Mais ‘Ammar bin Yasir a dit : "Ô Commandeur des Croyants ! Ne te souviens-tu pas quand toi et moi étions en campagne et que nous sommes devenus en état de Janabah sans trouver d’eau ? Tu n’as pas prié, mais moi, je me suis roulé dans la poussière et j’ai prié. Ensuite, nous sommes allés voir le Prophète (ﷺ) et nous lui avons raconté cela, et il a dit : 'Cela t’aurait suffi (de faire ainsi),' puis le Prophète (ﷺ) a frappé la terre avec ses mains, a soufflé dessus, puis s’est essuyé le visage et les mains avec." – (un des rapporteurs) Salamah n’était pas sûr si c’était jusqu’aux coudes ou seulement les mains. Et ‘Umar a dit : "Nous te laissons assumer ce que tu as pris sur toi
