Sa'ced bin Al-Musayyab said:"Ali and 'Uthman performed Hajj, and when we were partway there, 'Uthman forbade Tamattu, 'Ali said 'When you see him setting out, set out with him (saying the Talbiyah for 'Umrah)So 'Ali and his companions recited the Talbiyah for 'Umrah, and 'Uthman did not forbid them. 'Ali said: 'Have I not been told that you did.' Ali said to him: 'Did you not hear that the Messenger of Allah did Tamattu? He said: 'Of course

Rapporté par Sa'ced bin Al-Musayyab : Ali et 'Uthman ont accompli le Hajj, et alors que nous étions en route, 'Uthman a interdit le Tamattu. Ali a dit : « Quand vous le verrez se mettre en route, partez avec lui (en récitant la Talbiyah pour la ‘Umrah). » Ainsi, Ali et ses compagnons ont récité la Talbiyah pour la ‘Umrah, et 'Uthman ne les a pas empêchés. Ali lui a dit : « N’ai-je pas entendu dire que tu l’as fait ? » Ali lui a demandé : « N’as-tu pas entendu que le Messager d’Allah a fait le Tamattu ? » Il a répondu : « Bien sûr. »
