صحيح مسلم 6209

Aisha reported:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was lying in the bed in my apartment with his thigh uncovered and Abu Bakr sought permission to enter. It was given to him and he conversed in the same very state (the Prophet's thigh or shank uncovered). Then `Umar sought permission for entering and it was given to him and he conversed in that very state. Then `Uthman sought permission to enter; Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sat down and he set right his clothes. Muhammad (one of the narrators) said: I do not say that it happened on the same day. He (`Uthman) then entered and conversed and as he went out, `Aisha said: Abu Bakr entered and you did not stir and did not observe much care (in arranging your clothes), then `Umar entered and you did not stir and did not arrange your clothes, then `Uthman entered and you got up and set your clothes right, so he (ﷺ) said: Should I not show modesty to one whom even the Angels show modesty

Rapporté par Aïcha رضي الله عنها : Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ était allongé dans mon appartement, la cuisse découverte, quand Abu Bakr a demandé la permission d’entrer. On lui a permis d’entrer et il a parlé avec lui dans cet état (la cuisse ou le tibia du Prophète découverte). Puis Umar a demandé la permission d’entrer, il a été autorisé et a parlé dans le même état. Ensuite, Uthman a demandé la permission ; le Messager d’Allah ﷺ s’est alors assis et a remis ses vêtements en ordre. Muhammad (l’un des rapporteurs) a dit : Je ne dis pas que cela s’est passé le même jour. Uthman est alors entré, a parlé, puis en sortant, Aïcha a dit : « Abu Bakr est entré et tu n’as pas bougé ni pris soin de tes vêtements, puis Umar est entré et tu n’as pas bougé non plus, mais quand Uthman est entré, tu t’es levé et tu as arrangé tes vêtements. » Il ﷺ a répondu : « Ne devrais-je pas avoir de la pudeur devant quelqu’un devant qui même les Anges sont pudiques ? »
