Ibn Buraida reported that Abdullah b. al-Mughaffal saw a person from amongst his companions throwing small pebbles, whereupon he said:Don't throw pebbles. for Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) did not like it, or he forbade flinging of pebbles since neither the game is taken thereby, nor an enemy defeated. but it may break a tooth or put out an eye. He, afterwards, again saw him flinging pebbles, and said to him: I inform you that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did not approve or he forbade flinging of pebbles, but if I see you again flinging pebbles. I will not speak with you

Rapporté par Ibn Buraida : Abdullah ibn al-Mughaffal a vu l’un de ses compagnons lancer de petits cailloux et lui a dit : « Ne lance pas de cailloux, car le Messager d’Allah ﷺ n’aimait pas cela, ou il a interdit de lancer des cailloux, car cela ne permet ni de chasser un gibier, ni de vaincre un ennemi, mais cela peut casser une dent ou crever un œil. » Plus tard, il l’a revu lancer des cailloux et lui a dit : « Je t’informe que le Messager d’Allah ﷺ n’approuvait pas, ou a interdit, de lancer des cailloux. Si je te vois recommencer, je ne te parlerai plus. »
