صحيح مسلم 1760

Ibn 'Umar reported:A person called (the attention) of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as he was in the mosque, and said: Messenger of Allah, how should I make the rak'ahs of the night prayer an odd number? Upon this the Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) said: He who prays (night prayer) he should observe it in pairs, but if he apprehends the rise of morning, he should observe one rak'ah; that would make the number odd (for the rak'ahs) observed by him. This was narrated by Abu Kuraib 'Ubaidullah b. 'Abdullah and Ibn 'Umar did not make mention of it

Rapporté par Ibn 'Umar رضي الله عنه : Un homme a interpellé le Messager d’Allah ﷺ alors qu’il était dans la mosquée et lui a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah, comment rendre le nombre de rak‘a de la prière de la nuit impair ? » Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a répondu : « Celui qui prie la nuit doit prier par deux rak‘a à chaque fois, mais s’il craint que l’aube arrive, il doit faire une rak‘a ; cela rendra le nombre de ses rak‘a impair. » Ce hadith a été rapporté par Abu Kuraib, 'Ubaidullah b. 'Abdullah, et Ibn 'Umar n’a pas mentionné ce détail
