Yahya related to me from Malik from Sadaqa ibn Yasar al-Makki that a man from the people of Yemen, who had his hair braided, came to Abdullah ibn Umar and said, "Abu Abd arRahman, I have come to do just umra. A woman from Iraq said, "What should his sacrificial animal be, Abu Abd ar-Rahman?" and he said, "His sacrificial animal?" and she said to him, "What should his sacrificial animal be?" Abdullah ibn Umar said, "If I could only find a sheep to sacrifice, I would prefer to do that than to fast

Sadaqa Ibn Yassar al-Makke a rapporté qu'un homme du Yemen aux cheveux tressés vint trouver Abdallah Ibn Omar et lui dit: «O Abou Abdel-Rahman! Je viens faire tout simplement une visite pieuse». Abdallah Ibn Omar lui répondit: «Si j'étais avec toi, ou bien que tu me l'avais demandé, je t'aurais ordonné de la joindre à un pèlerinage». Le Yemenite répliqua: «Je fait ce je fait». Abdallah Ibn Omar lui dit: «Pour ce qui a été coupé de tes cheveux, fais une offrande». Une femme de l'Iraq lui demanda: «Quelle doit être son offrande ô Abou Abdel-Rahman»? Il se demanda: «Son offrande»? -«Oui, dit-elle». Abdallah Ibn Omar riposta: «Si je ne trouvais qu'un mouton à immoler, cela me sera préférable que de jeûner»
