Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that receipts were given to people in the time of Marwan ibn al-Hakam for the produce of the market at al-Jar. People bought and sold the receipts among themselves before they took delivery of the goods. Zayd Thabit and one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, went to Marwan ibn al-Hakam and said, "Marwan! Do you make usury halal?" He said, "I seek refuge with Allah! What is that?" He said, "These receipts which people buy and sell before they take delivery of the goods." Marwan therefore sent a guard to follow them and to take them from people's hands and return them to their owners

On rapporta à Malek que des titres avaient été remis aux gens du temps où Marwan Ibn Al Hakam était gouverneur, pour de la nourriture ayant pour origine «Al-Jar». Les gens ayant échangé entre eux, ces titres avant que la nourriture en soit de leur possession, Zaid Ibn Thabet, et l'un des compagnons de l'Envoyé d'Allah (salallahou alayhi wa salam) (Sur lui la grâce et la paix d'Allah) se rendirent chez Marwan Ibn Al-Hakam, et lui dirent: «Ô Marwan! Comment tu rends l'usure licite»? Il s'écria: «Je me réfugie auprès d'Allah! De quoi parlez-vous»? Ils lui répondirent: «Au sujet de ces titres, que les gens se sont mutuellement échangés, avant qu'ils aient possédé la nourriture». Alors, Marwan envoya ses gardes, recherchant ces titres en l'arrachant des mains des gens, et les remettant à leurs propriétaires primitifs»
