Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Qasim from his father that A'isha, umm al-muminin, proposed to Qurayba bint Abi Umayya on behalf of Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr. They married her to him and her people found fault with Abd ar-Rahman and said, "We only gave in marriage because of A'isha." A'isha therefore sent for Abd ar-Rahman and told him about it. He gave Qurayba authority over herself and she chose her husband and so there was no divorce

Abdul Rahman Ibn Al-Kassem a rapporté d'après son père que Aicha la mère des croyants avait demandé en mariage à Abdul-Rahman Ibn Abu Bakr, Qouraiba, la fille de Abi Oumayya. Il l'épousa, cependant les parents de Qouraiba firent des reproches à Abdul Rahman et lui dirent: «Nous n'avons accepté ce mariage, que parce que Aicha a pris l'initiative (au sens que, les parents de Qouraiba admiraient le bon caractère de Aicha)». Ainsi Aicha alla rapporter ce qui fut dit à Abdul Rahman qui chargea Qouraiba du droit du divorce. Ayant accepté ce mariage, elle se trouva engagée»
