He said, "Yahya ibn Yahya al-Laythi related to me from Malik ibn Anas from Ibn Shihab that one day Umar ibn Abdal-Aziz delayed the prayer. Urwa ibn az-Zubayr came and told him that al-Mughira ibn Shuba had delayed the prayer one day while he was in Kufa and Abu Masud al- Ansari had come to him and said, 'What's this, Mughira? Don't you know that the angel Jibril came down and prayed and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, prayed.' Then he prayed again, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, prayed. Then he prayed again, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, prayed. Ibn Chéhab a rapporté que Omar Ibn Abdel-Aziz avait un jour retardé la prière (de l'asr). Ourwa Ibn Al-Zoubair se rendit chez lui et lui raconta que Al-Moughira Ibn Chou'ba avait retardé pour un jour la prière, alors qu'il se trouvait à Koufa; Abou Mass'oud Al-Ansari entra chez lui et dit: «Que signifie cela ô Moughira? Ne savais-tu pas que Gabriel descendit du ciel, fit la prière (du midi) et l'Envoyé d'Allah (salallahou alayhi wa salam) r (Sur lui la grâce et la paix d'Allah) la fit également, puis Gabriel fit la prière (de l'asr) et l'Envoyé d'Allah (salallahou alayhi wa salam) r (Sur lui la grâce et la paix d'Allah) la fit, puis Gabriel fit la prière (du coucher du soleil) et l'Envoyé d'Allah (salallahou alayhi wa salam) r (Sur lui la grâce et la paix d'Allah) la fit également puis Gabriel fit la prière (du soir) et l'Envoyé d'Allah (salallahou alayhi wa salam) r (Sur lui la grâce et la paix d'Allah) la fit également, puis Gabriel fit la prière (de l'aube) et l'Envoyé d'Allah (salallahou alayhi wa salam) r (Sur lui la grâce et la paix d'Allah) la fit? Par suite Gabriel dit: «voilà ce qui t'est ordonné». Et Omar Ibn Abdel-Aziz répondit: «assure-toi mieux sur ce que tu rapportes ô Ourwa! Est-ce Gabriel qui a indiqué les moments de la prière à l'Envoyé d'Allah r (salallahou alayhi wa salam) (Sur lui la grâce et la paix d'Allah)?». Ourwa répliqua: «Je ne fais qu'une répétition de ce que Bachir Ibn Abi Mass'oud Al-Ansari a rapporté d'après son père»
