سنن ابن ماجه 981

Abu Hazim said:“Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi used to give preference to the young to lead his people in prayer. It was said to him: “Do you do that, when you have such seniority (in Islam)?” He said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘The Imam is responsible. If he does well, then he will have the reward and so will they, but if he does badly, then that will be counted against him but not against them.’”

Rapporté par Abu Hazim : Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi préférait que les jeunes dirigent son peuple dans la prière. On lui a dit : « Tu fais cela alors que tu as une grande ancienneté (dans l’Islam) ? » Il a répondu : « J’ai entendu le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) dire : “L’imam est responsable. S’il agit bien, il aura la récompense ainsi que ceux qu’il dirige, mais s’il agit mal, cela sera contre lui et non contre eux.” »
