سنن ابن ماجه 4303

It was narrated that Abu Sallam Al-Habashi said:“Umar bin ‘Abdul-‘Aziz sent for me and I came to him upon the riding animal prepared for swift mail delivery. When I came to him, he said: ‘We have caused you some trouble O Abu Sallam.’ He said: ‘Yes, by Allah, O Commander of the Believers!’ He said: ‘By Allah, we did not want to cause you any hardship, but there is a Hadith which I have heard that you narrate from Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), concerning the Cistern, and I wanted to hear it directly from you.’ He said: “I said: ‘Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), told me that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “My Cistern is (wider than) the distance between Ailah and ‘Aden. It is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey, and its cups are as many as the stars in the sky. Whoever drinks from it will never feel thirst again. The first ones who come to drink from it will be the poor Muhajirin, with dirty clothes and disheveled hair, who do not marry refined women and for whom no doors are opened.” ‘Umar wept until his beard became wet, then he said: ‘But I have married refined women and doors have been opened for me. Certainly I will not wash the clothes that are on my body until they become dirt, and I will not comb my hair until it becomes disheveled.’”

Rapporté par Abu Sallam Al-Habashi : ‘Umar ibn ‘Abdul-‘Aziz m’a fait venir, et je suis venu à lui sur l’animal utilisé pour le courrier rapide. Quand je suis arrivé, il m’a dit : “Nous t’avons causé des désagréments, ô Abu Sallam.” J’ai répondu : “Oui, par Allah, ô Commandeur des Croyants !” Il a dit : “Par Allah, nous ne voulions pas te causer de peine, mais il y a un hadith que j’ai entendu dire que tu rapportes de Thawban, l’affranchi du Messager d’Allah (ﷺ), à propos du bassin, et je voulais l’entendre directement de toi.” J’ai dit : “Thawban, l’affranchi du Messager d’Allah (ﷺ), m’a raconté que le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) a dit : ‘Mon bassin est (plus large que) la distance entre Aïlah et Aden. Il est plus blanc que le lait et plus doux que le miel, et ses coupes sont aussi nombreuses que les étoiles dans le ciel. Celui qui en boira n’aura plus jamais soif. Les premiers à venir y boire seront les pauvres Mouhajirines, avec des vêtements sales et les cheveux ébouriffés, qui n’épousent pas de femmes raffinées et à qui aucune porte n’est ouverte.’” ‘Umar a pleuré jusqu’à ce que sa barbe soit mouillée, puis il a dit : “Mais moi, j’ai épousé des femmes raffinées et des portes me sont ouvertes. Je ne laverai donc pas les vêtements que je porte jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient sales, et je ne peignerai pas mes cheveux jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient ébouriffés.”
