صحيح البخاري 5132

Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d:While we were sitting in the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) a woman came to him and presented herself (for marriage) to him. The Prophet (ﷺ) looked at her, lowering his eyes and raising them, but did not give a reply. One of his companions said, "Marry her to me O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!" The Prophet (ﷺ) asked (him), "Have you got anything?" He said, "I have got nothing." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Not even an iron ring?" He Sa`d, "Not even an iron ring, but I will tear my garment into two halves and give her one half and keep the other half." The Prophet; said, "No. Do you know some of the Qur'an (by heart)?" He said, "Yes." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Go, I have agreed to marry her to you with what you know of the Qur'an (as her Mahr)

Rapporté par Sahl bin Sa`d : Alors que nous étions assis avec le Prophète (ﷺ), une femme est venue vers lui et s’est proposée à lui pour le mariage. Le Prophète (ﷺ) l’a regardée, baissant et levant les yeux, mais il n’a rien répondu. L’un de ses compagnons a dit : « Mariez-la-moi, ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! » Le Prophète (ﷺ) lui a demandé : « As-tu quelque chose ? » Il a répondu : « Je n’ai rien. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Même pas une bague en fer ? » Il a dit : « Même pas une bague en fer, mais je peux déchirer mon vêtement en deux et lui en donner une moitié et garder l’autre. » Le Prophète a dit : « Non. Est-ce que tu connais quelque chose du Coran par cœur ? » Il a répondu : « Oui. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Va, je t’ai marié à elle avec ce que tu connais du Coran comme dot. »
