سنن أبي داود 421

Narrated Mu'adh ibn Jabal: We waited for the Prophet (ﷺ) to offer the night prayer. He delayed until people thought that he would not come out and some of us said that he had offered the prayer. At the moment when we were in this condition the Prophet (ﷺ) came out. People said to him as they were already saying. He said: Observe this prayer when it is dark, for by it you have been made superior to all the peoples, no people having observed it before you

Rapporté par Mu‘adh ibn Jabal : « Nous avons attendu le Prophète ﷺ pour la prière de la nuit. Il a tardé à venir, au point que certains pensaient qu’il ne sortirait pas et que certains disaient qu’il avait déjà prié. Pendant que nous étions dans cette situation, le Prophète ﷺ est sorti. Les gens lui ont dit ce qu’ils disaient déjà. Il a dit : “Faites cette prière quand il fait sombre, car c’est grâce à elle que vous avez été rendus supérieurs à tous les peuples ; aucun peuple ne l’a accomplie avant vous.” »
