سنن أبي داود 2428

Narrated Abdullah ibn al-Harith ; or Uncle of Mujibah al-Bahiliyyah: The father or Uncle of Mujibah al-Bahiliyyah visited the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He then went away and came to him (again) after one year when his condition and appearance had changed. He said: Messenger of Allah, do you not recognize me? He asked: Who are you? He replied: I am al-Bahili who came to you last year. He said: What has changed you? You were looking well, then you were good in appearance? He said: I have only food at night since I departed from you. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Why did you torment yourself? Fast during Ramadan (the month of patience) and fast for one day every month. He said: Increase it for me, for I have (more) strength. He said: Fast two days. He again said: Increase it for me. He said: Fast three days. He again said: Increase it for me. He said: Fast during the inviolable months and then stop; fast during the inviolable months and then stop; fast during the inviolable months and then stop. He indicated by his three fingers, and joined them and then opened them

Rapporté par Abdullah ibn al-Harith ou l’oncle de Mujibah al-Bahiliyyah : Le père ou l’oncle de Mujibah al-Bahiliyyah est venu rendre visite au Messager d’Allah ﷺ. Il est ensuite reparti et est revenu le voir un an plus tard, alors que son état et son apparence avaient changé. Il a dit : « Messager d’Allah, ne me reconnais-tu pas ? » Il a demandé : « Qui es-tu ? » Il a répondu : « Je suis al-Bahili qui est venu te voir l’an dernier. » Il a dit : « Qu’est-ce qui t’a changé ? Tu avais bonne mine et tu paraissais en bonne santé. » Il a répondu : « Depuis que je suis parti de chez toi, je ne mange que la nuit. » Alors le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : « Pourquoi t’es-tu imposé cela ? Jeûne pendant Ramadan (le mois de la patience) et jeûne un jour chaque mois. » Il a dit : « Augmente pour moi, car j’ai plus de force. » Il a dit : « Jeûne deux jours. » Il a encore dit : « Augmente pour moi. » Il a dit : « Jeûne trois jours. » Il a encore dit : « Augmente pour moi. » Il a dit : « Jeûne pendant les mois sacrés, puis arrête ; jeûne pendant les mois sacrés, puis arrête ; jeûne pendant les mois sacrés, puis arrête. » Il a montré cela avec ses trois doigts, les joignant puis les écartant
