سنن أبي داود 2305

Umm Hakim, daughter of Usayd, reported on the authority of her mother that her husband died and she was suffering from sore eyes. She therefore applied collyrium (jala'). Ahmad said:The correct version is "glittering collyrium (kuhl al-jala'). She sent her slave-girl to Umm Salamah, and she asked her about the use of glittering collyrium (kuhl al-jala'). She said: Do not apply it except in the case of dire need which is troubling you. In that case you can use it at night, but you should remove it in the daytime. Then Umm Salamah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to visit me when AbuSalamah died, and I had put the juice of aloes in my eye. He asked : What is this, Umm Salamah? I replied: It is only the juice of aloes and contains no perfume. He said: It gives the face a glow, so apply it only at night and remove it in daytime, and do not comb yourself with scent or henna, for it is a dye. I asked: What should I use when I comb myself, Messenger of Allah? He said: Use lote-tree leaves and smear your head copiously with them

Rapporté par Umm Hakim, fille de Usayd رضي الله عنها, selon sa mère : « Son mari est décédé alors qu’elle souffrait des yeux. Elle a donc appliqué du khôl (jala’). Ahmad a dit : La version correcte est “khôl brillant (kuhl al-jala’)”. Elle a envoyé sa servante demander à Umm Salamah رضي الله عنها si elle pouvait utiliser ce khôl. Umm Salamah a répondu : “N’en mets pas, sauf en cas de réelle nécessité qui te fait souffrir. Dans ce cas, tu peux en mettre la nuit, mais enlève-le le jour.” Umm Salamah a ajouté : “Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ est venu me voir après la mort d’Abu Salamah, et j’avais mis du jus d’aloès dans mon œil. Il a demandé : ‘Qu’est-ce que c’est, Umm Salamah ?’ J’ai répondu : ‘C’est seulement du jus d’aloès, sans parfum.’ Il a dit : ‘Cela donne de l’éclat au visage, alors applique-le seulement la nuit et enlève-le le jour, et ne te parfume pas avec du henné, car c’est une teinture.’ J’ai demandé : ‘Que dois-je utiliser pour me coiffer, Messager d’Allah ?’ Il a répondu : ‘Utilise des feuilles de jujubier et enduis bien ta tête avec.’ »
