Muslim ibn Shu'bah said:Nafi' ibn Alqamah appointed my father as charge d'affaires of his tribe, and commanded him to collect sadaqah (zakat) from them. My father sent me to a group of them; so I came to an aged man called Sa'r ibn Disam I said: My father has sent me to you to collect zakat from you. He asked: What kind of animals will you take, my nephew? I replied: We shall select the sheep and examine their udders. He said: My nephew, I shall narrate a tradition to you. I lived on one of these steppes during the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) along with my sheep. Two people riding a camel came to me. They said to me: We are messengers of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), sent to you so that you may pay the sadaqah (zakat) on your sheep. I asked: What is due from me for them? They said: One goat. I went to a goat which I knew was full of milk and fat, and I brought it to them. They said: This is a pregnant goat. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited us to accept a pregnant goat. I asked: What will you take then? They said: A goat in its second year or a goat in its third year. I then went to a goat which had not given birth to any kid, but it was going to do so. I brought it to them. They said: Give it to us. They took it on the camel and went away. Abu Dawud said: Abu 'Asim transmitted this tradition from Zakariyya. He said: Muslim bin Shu'bah is a narrator in the chain of this tradition as reported by the narrator Rawh

Muslim ibn Shu'bah a dit : Nafi' ibn Alqamah a nommé mon père responsable de sa tribu et lui a ordonné de collecter la zakat auprès d’eux. Mon père m’a envoyé vers un groupe d’entre eux ; je suis donc allé voir un vieil homme appelé Sa’r ibn Disam. Je lui ai dit : « Mon père m’a envoyé pour collecter la zakat auprès de vous. » Il a demandé : « Mon neveu, quel genre d’animaux allez-vous prendre ? » J’ai répondu : « Nous choisirons les moutons et examinerons leurs mamelles. » Il a dit : « Mon neveu, je vais te raconter un récit. J’ai vécu sur ces terres à l’époque du Messager d’Allah ﷺ avec mes moutons. Deux personnes à dos de chameau sont venues me voir. Elles m’ont dit : “Nous sommes les envoyés du Messager d’Allah ﷺ, il nous a envoyés pour que tu verses la zakat sur tes moutons.” J’ai demandé : “Qu’est-ce que je dois donner pour eux ?” Ils ont répondu : “Une chèvre.” Je suis allé chercher une chèvre que je savais pleine de lait et bien grasse, et je la leur ai apportée. Ils ont dit : “Celle-ci est enceinte. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ nous a interdit d’accepter une chèvre enceinte.” J’ai demandé : “Que prendrez-vous alors ?” Ils ont dit : “Une chèvre de deux ans ou de trois ans.” Je suis alors allé chercher une chèvre qui n’avait pas encore mis bas, mais qui allait le faire. Je la leur ai apportée. Ils ont dit : “Donne-la-nous.” Ils l’ont prise, l’ont chargée sur le chameau et sont partis. » Abu Dawud a dit : Abu ‘Asim a transmis ce récit de Zakariyya. Il a dit : Muslim ibn Shu’bah est un rapporteur dans la chaîne de ce récit, comme l’a rapporté Rawh
